Halloween’s Cosmic Origins

Astronomers are realizing that 20-30,000 years ago a massive comet entered our solar system. When it began disintegrating, it created the Taurid meteor showers. Our earth passed through these annually (and still does) roughly between the end of October and beginning of November. To our ancient ancestors they appeared to (and still do) emanate from the Pleiades star cluster, visible across the globe at the same time. It is possible they experienced catastrophic events from encountering large meteors. It is possible these gave rise to commemorations of the dead that occurred simultaneously worldwide then, as now.

As we participate in these commemorations and celebrations, may we know of our cosmic connection to all throughout time. And as we pass through the Taurid meteor showers, so too will we pass through our current cataclysmic events. May we choose the expansion of loving consciousness to shine like the Pleiades, and make all things new.
